Privacy Policy

What Data We Collect

We collect only basic information about each member: Name, address, phone, email, date of birth, band charge, and whether you are willing to share ‘The Bulletin’ magazine with another member at the same address.

• Your email is used to send the monthly Red Rope MIS newsletter and occasional club emails.
• We pass your contact details to your local Region secretary so they can welcome you to events.
• Your email is also added to our national mailing list. It is however very easy to unsubscribe.

Where Data Is Stored

Since January 2018, our membership database has been hosted by WebCollect.

• Email correspondence from the National Red Rope Secretary.
• Passing details to your Region secretary for local activities.
• Printing address labels for the Bulletin magazine.
• Affiliation with the BMC or Mountaineering Scotland.

WebCollect also contracts with GoCardless for optional auto‑renew payments.

Sharing Your Data with BMC and MS

England & Wales: We provide your details to the BMC. More info: BMC Privacy Policy.

Scotland: We provide your details to Mountaineering Scotland. More info: Mountaineering Scotland Privacy Notice.

We will not share your data with any other parties outside Red Rope apart from the BMC or MS.

WebCollect and Your Access to Data

You can log in anytime to view or update your details: WebCollect Red Rope Membership

Editable details include: name, email, phone, DOB, address, payment method, password, region, bulletin share, MIS preferences, and additional bulletins.

If you leave Red Rope, your data is archived or can be deleted upon request.
